The love of golf knows no age; it can start very early. So to promote and grow the game of golf, Blackthorn Golf Club is offering a great summer camp experience for students between 7 and 14 years old, featuring a fun, positive group environment with team competitions and prizes all week long! (By the way, it’s great if campers already have their own clubs, but clubs are not required to attend this camp!)
Campers coming to Blackthorn for Jr. Golf Camp will learn the fundamentals of the game from our professional instructors, who have years of experience on the course and in Jr. golf instruction. We also emphasize the values and integrity around which the game of golf was created.
At the end of each camp session, all campers’ families are invited to a family barbeque and awards ceremony. So set up, take dead aim, and sign up for a great week of golf at an outstanding facility.

Program Details
All campers will receive a Blackthorn gift pack.
All camp sessions include comprehensive instruction, covering all aspects of golf from certified golf professionals, that includes on-course play one day in the week with a 5:1 camper-to-coach ratio. Golf swing fundamentals are taught, including grip, stance, alignment, and posture.
Full-swing balance, power, and in-swing principles are also part of the instructional process.
Addressing the short game, our instructors teach the basics of putting, chipping, pitching, and bunker play.
Because there is more to golf than swinging a club, each camper will learn the rules of golf, history of the game, golf etiquette, and club fitting.
Every camper will be able to view his or her own swing (next to the PGA pro's swing) on our V1 Golf Digital Video Analysis during the week.
Every session features individual and team competitions with prizes from local businesses.
A South Bend native, Greg Kizer grew up playing the game and began his golf career working in the cart barn at Blackthorn. He has competed on many levels of golf... from local, state, and national events to receiving his degree in Golf Course Management with certifications in club repair, fitting, tournament operations, and advanced golf instruction from the Golf Academy of America. Greg has been a professional golf instructor for 13 years now with extensive experience in junior golf instruction and summer camp programs.
“Teaching golf to all ages and skill levels is my passion, so being the director of instruction at Blackthorn is a dream come true,” he says. Most important, Greg knows that junior golfers are the future of the game. “It's important to develop that passion and get young golfers started with solid fundamentals so that they can get the most enjoyment out of the time they spend at the practice tee and on the course.”
Out on the course every player has the same opportunity. In life that is not always the case, especially for children. Blackthorn Golf Course is asking you to start your own golfing tradition this year by becoming a sponsor of the Blackthorn Jr. Golf Camp.
Children (ages 7-14) receiving these sponsorships will come from community organizations. They are local kids who may not be otherwise able to attend a golf camp and learn more about the game, its history, and the values behind it. They need something breaking their way.
